A Patteda Anchu cotton saree built entirely around black and white: tiny white and black checks across the body, a clean white border marked by a single thin black stripe, and a pallu of black-and-white bands.

Handwoven in firm cotton on a pit loom in Gajendragad, Karnataka.

A cotton running blouse piece completes the saree.

Patteda Anchu takes its name from Patteda — stripes and checks — and Anchu, the contrasting border. Here, fine black-and-white checks meet a white edge marked by a thin black stripe, before a pallu of black-and-white bands completes the weave.
