Thin lines of golden zari fall the full length of this black Bhujodi tussar, bringing a measured vertical rhythm to the dark body.
At the border, wine, orange and green bands introduce colour beneath the gold. The pallu closes in Kutchi weaving with golden zari stripes, bringing the region's counted extra-weft work into sharper focus at the end.
The natural lustre of tussar gives the black ground depth, while the zari catches light without overwhelming the weave.
Handwoven on a pit loom in Bhujodi, Kutch. The blouse piece is soft cotton in black, carrying wine, orange and green stripes from the border palette.
