A charcoal grey Jamdani in silk, its dark ground lit with flower motifs in pink, orange and green — windows coming on at dusk, one by one.
Silk gives the cloth more body and a low sheen than its cotton cousins, while the handwoven extra-weft motifs remain fine and detailed. The border stays self-coloured, allowing the flowers to provide the saree's colour.
At the pallu, flowers and leaves gather into a final constellation.
Woven on a pit loom in Nadia, West Bengal. The blouse piece is plain charcoal grey muslin silk.
For dinners and receptions — dark, detailed, softly lit.
