A Jamdani saree in mustard-yellow cotton, with flower motifs individually woven by hand across the body and an unexpected lavender border bringing a cool contrast to the warmth of the ground.
The floral language continues into the pallu, allowing the Jamdani flower motifs to carry from body to close rather than giving way to a separate decorative treatment.
Woven on a traditional pit loom in Nadia (Badtehatta / Senpur), West Bengal, the saree belongs to Bengal’s Jamdani tradition, where intricate motifs are created through an exacting extra-weft technique. Each motif is individually woven by hand into the fabric, building the design directly into the cotton ground.
The broader Jamdani vocabulary includes floral, geometric and paisley forms, with traditional patterns such as Butidar, Tersa and Konia. Here, the product-specific expression remains distinctly floral: Jamdani flower motifs across the mustard-yellow body, a lavender border, and flower motifs continuing through the pallu.
