A Molakalmuru saree woven in fine mulberry silk, with a dark midnight blue 6X6 ply plain silk body that sets a quiet ground for the colour and motif work at the edges.
Its skirt border is worked in the Ganga Jamuna tradition — maroon on one side and green on the other — with a line of Rudraksha motifs running alongside the border.
The pallu carries the most detailed work: a dark maroon ground with Gandaberunda motifs and Gomi arrows woven in zari, bringing the classical Molakalmuru vocabulary into sharper focus.
Handwoven on a traditional pit loom in Molakalmuru, Karnataka, the saree belongs to a weaving tradition known for its lustrous silk texture, subtle shot effects and intricate three-shuttle weaving. Here, those characteristics are expressed through the restrained midnight blue body, contrasting Ganga Jamuna border and motif-rich zari pallu.
