Off white Gachi Tussar, its naturally textured ground crossed with woven temple lines and small buttis.
The off white is not stark. Tussar's characteristic grain gives it warmth and depth — closer to sand than snow.
Along the edge runs a teal blue temple border, a cool line against the warm natural ground.
Then the pallu becomes fuller.
Checks create its underlying structure while heavy flower motifs move across them, bringing abundance to a saree whose body remains comparatively restrained.
Handwoven on a pit loom in the Sonamukhi / Krishnabazar region of Bankura, West Bengal.
