Royal blue and sage green — the two colours that give this Tussar silk saree its name and its character.
Across the royal blue body run vertical woven panels, carrying abstract motifs worked in white and sage green thread. Rather than scattering pattern across the entire surface, the panels organise it into measured lines.
A medium-width dull gold zari border frames the blue without competing with it.
Then comes the pallu.
The ground turns sage green, carrying small abstract motifs in blue and white thread. Two panels of ghicha Tussar texture introduce another surface into the composition, while one large square-shaped motif in blue thread work gives the pallu its visual anchor.
It is almost architectural in the way it closes the saree — panel, texture, motif, space.
The accompanying silk blouse piece continues the sage green, finished with vertical stripes in blue thread work.
The saree was sourced in Navi Mumbai and billed under the Bhagalpuri name. The actual weaving origin of this individual piece has not been independently verified.
