A Jamdani saree in cocoa-brown cotton, an uncommon ground, with pale leaf motifs woven across the body like specimens pressed into a naturalist's book.
A lavender border cools the earthy brown at the edge, while the same leaf motif language continues into the pallu, carrying the botanical rhythm from body to close.
Each motif is built into the weave by hand — nothing printed, nothing applied. Woven on a traditional pit loom in Nadia (Badtehatta / Senpur), West Bengal, the saree belongs to Bengal's Jamdani tradition, where intricate motifs are created through an exacting extra-weft technique. Each motif is individually woven by hand into the fabric rather than applied to its surface.
The broader Jamdani vocabulary includes floral, geometric and paisley forms, with traditional patterns such as Butidar, Tersa and Konia. Here, the product-specific expression is distinctly botanical: Jamdani leaf motifs across a cocoa-brown ground, a lavender border, and leaf motifs continuing through the pallu.
