A yellow-and-black Ilkal saree in cotton, with an Ikat print across the body that brings pattern and movement through the full length of the saree.

A black Chikki Paras border with gold zari frames the body, while the pallu shifts into silk Gomi Teni in black and grey, giving the saree a darker, more structured finish.

The blouse piece continues that contrast in black silk with gold zari.

Woven on a traditional pit loom in Ilkal, Karnataka, the saree belongs to an Ilkal tradition known for the relationship between body, border and pallu. A defining technique of the craft is Tope Teni, the traditional method of interlocking the body and pallu to create the characteristic seamless join. The broader Ilkal design vocabulary includes Gomi, Chikki Paras and Gaadi borders, along with checks, stripes and traditional geometric motifs.

Here, the composition is especially graphic: yellow and black across the printed body, gold zari sharpening the Chikki Paras edge, and black-and-grey silk Gomi Teni bringing structure to the pallu.
