An ivory Jamdani cotton carrying black bird motifs across its pale body, each figure individually woven into the cloth.
The composition is almost monochrome: ivory ground, black birds and a cream border beneath them. Across the body, the birds appear with space around them; at the pallu, they gather into fuller flight.
The blouse piece continues the Jamdani language with temple motifs woven along its border.
Woven on a pit loom in Nadia, West Bengal.

Jamdani builds motifs into fine cotton through an extra-weft technique. Here, black bird motifs are individually woven across the ivory ground before gathering more closely at the pallu, turning empty space and repetition into a sense of movement.
